Kris Bordessa is the author of Attainable Sustainable: The Lost Art of Self-Reliant Living (National Geographic) and the creator of the site by the same name.

Raised in a farming family in northern California, she’s—without a doubt—more comfortable in a vegetable garden than a shopping mall.

She's been growing food her entire life and wants nothing more than to pass that knowledge on to a new generation of gardeners.

Currently residing with her family in Hawai‘i, she's learning to take her own advice about growing what the neighbors are having luck with. In her case, it's bananas and taro.
